Is it time to disconnect? Turn off the generator? Reduce your energy costs?
You’ve come to the right place.
More and more people are electing to go off the grid. Whether it is the location or cost of electricity or your environmental agenda, you can choose to produce your own power.
Off-grid solar systems are designed to produce and store electricity using natural elements without connecting to a power grid. The most popular form of renewable energy – solar panels – generate power and charge a battery bank, allowing you to pull power when needed. The size of your off-grid system will depend on the size of your property and buildings as well as your intended daily power usage.
Nova offers off-grid power solutions for any application. We’ll guide you through the process of moving off-grid with either a pre-built off-grid power kit or designing you a custom system that would best suit your application.

More About Off-Grid Power Systems
Each kit contains all the components required for stand-alone operation, and are carefully designed and pre-assembled where applicable to allow for Plug-n-Play installations. Some off-grid power systems can be connected to the grid if a suitable Hybrid inverter is used, and with approved rapid shut-down protection and other code-compliant devices in place.
There are various sources of power that can be used in an off-grid system such as solar panels, wind turbines, micro-hydro system, and a fossil fuel based generator. (See “EDUCATION” for further details):
Note: All the Power Source Options require additional hardware and electrical components in order to create an off-grid system.
Power Source Options:
Solar Panel
Size / power options for panel selection in a typical off-grid applications: 100 Watt – 400 Watt.
Typical retail cost (CAD): $0.9 – $1.9 per Watt, depending on quantity, quality and brand name.
Wind Turbine
Non-commercial turbines used in off-grid applications typically range from: 400 Watt – 2000 Watt.
Typical retail cost (CAD): $2.90 – $4.0 per Watt. The wind profile for the location should be determined before selecting.
